Richard is a long time avid diver, he started diving in 1994 at the University of Grenoble (France). He dove a lot on the French seaside. He started cave diving in Mexico in 2001 (Yucatan Peninsula) and the Caribbean. He also started mixed gas Diving in 1999 and has dove in the ocean on deep reefs and at the bottom of local lakes to visit submerged cities.

Richard is a marathonian and triathlete, he has competed in the San Francisco and New York's Marathons and local triathlon competitions.
